When you have managed to go through college and graduate, you will have a much better chance when it comes to job hunting compared to the people who never went to college. However, there is a lot of problem solving and complicated decisions to make which is why universities will require the candidates to meet specific criterias before they can secure an admission to the college to take an engineering degree. If you do not want to miss your chance, it is important to know about the requirements early in time so that you can take the necessary steps to get there. You cannot jump any steps and you still have to go through high school. You should have taken at least four years of english language, mathematics(trigonometry, calculus, algebra and geometry) and 3 years of sciences(physics, chemistry and biology). It does not just end at making sure you have picked the right courses and studied them for the required time duration but also scoring good grades.
Ensure your grades are great from the time you get into junior high because putting in efforts at your final year is not going to earn you a lot of points. SAT and ACT tests should be taken seriously because they bear a lot of weight when it comes to decisions on your where you will end up in college. 0 GPA, you will be on your way towards getting into engineering school but in order to impress with prestigious colleges, make sure you have a 4. Nevertheless, do not work on your academic excellence to forget that there are other things that can save you. You will be creating new things and solving problems on your own once you become an engineer which means you should let the universities see your creative side and a character of a person who is curious to learn more.
Get into extra curricular activities which are related to engineering because these are emphasised when it comes to deciding where you will be admitted. Since the colleges do not know anything about you apart from the academic documents you have submitted, your mentors and teachers will have to vouch for you which is why you should get in their good graces early. It will not be about reading books and passing tests in college but also working on research projects so that new ways of solving real life problems can be found. Therefore, keep working on projects and find ways to do things better from an engineering viewpoint because this is going to help you get into the best colleges.
